That was an interesting way of putting it. An amusing one too. It makes him imagine groups of jocks just alternating between who wants to be intelligent that day or moment. Part of him wonders if there’s any brain cell activity going on in any of their heads at all. Obviously they are. It’s just that they’re stupid. Most of them, anyway.
“Nice.” Honestly? Ren has originally planned to go off on his own, smoke several blunts he’d prerolled for himself, and get high as hell in the woods before he went home; However, this plan is better. Mostly likely because Ren is somewhat of a social butterfly to a degree. Only toward people he thinks he’ll get along with. Even if that may be eventually gets along with. If there’s hope for it? He tries. It beat going home and being alone with his thoughts.
“My place isn’t far off, actually. If you just want to go there?” Though he knows Gareth doesn’t really know him that well, he feels like there’s more to worry about dragging a practical stranger off into the woods after coaxing them with pot. Yeah, that felt weird. Unless they’d prefer that, then cool. Regardless, Ren is already started on his way there since any other good spot is that direction anyhow.
gareth was always quick on his feet. always full of wit. he always had something to say, some sort of rebuttal. he was certainly not someone you wanted to cross because he’d probably make you question waking up that morning without much thought. he had many amusing ways to describe his—…archnemesis’s. people who used to be friends but never truly were. they dropped him the second he decided to pursue something other than football.
the drummer certainly wasn’t a social butterfly by any means. he never really spoke to anyone who weren’t his friends. though, ren had put himself out there and asked if he had been okay. he seemed to be on the same wavelength as him and—…he offered him free weed. why would he say no to that?
“no offense, man but i’d stick to the woods. i don’t really go to people’s houses.” people usually hung out in his garage or in his basement. or in eddie’s trailer. or at the hideout. gareth wasn’t keen about—…meeting families. he wasn’t necessarily the best at making good impressions and sometimes it’s best to not put his friend’s in those positions. “though, if you get me high enough i might change my mind,”
“Right,” Wayne frowned sympathetically. He couldn’t imagine the poor girl was taking it too well, from how Gareth was acting. There probably wasn’t a ‘good’ way to take it in the first place; even if you avoided crying over it you’d still be upset at how stupid and unfair it was.
“And does she want yuh punchin’ this guy, or try an’ deal with any’a them other folks been talking ‘bout ‘er like that?” He asked, once again turning his calm, firm gaze directly onto Gareth’s. “She actually come out and ask yuh tew, I mean?”
gareth was used to having people spread rumors about him. hell, he was used to hearing people talk shit to his face. he could handle it. though, jerry was a cheerleader. her whole reputation was on the line all because she broke up with her basketball player boyfriend that she had been on and off with since the ninth grade. fuck andy, really. he hated the guy and he never hid it.
“—….no.” he’ll bring his cigarette back up to his lips, leaning up against the side of the trailer as he sighs out the cigarette smoke. “why do you have to look at everything so fuckin’ logically?”
“Fuck - that sounds so good right now.” Which is good because he wouldn’t have been able to figure out what he wanted otherwise. Without Gareth bringing that up, that is. He tended to be a bit more indecisive when it came to what he wanted while high. Didn’t stop him from eating whatever though. “We have to move for that, don’t we?” Yes, yes you do, Eddie. Though he wasn’t saying that as though he hadn’t realized - it’s just that neither of them seem to want to move right now.
gareth can’t help but groan in response, completely agreeing. of course it sounds good. he had suggested it. though, now he couldn’t stop thinking about it. his stomach even lets out a quiet rumble, head lolling to the side as he sat on the couch. “yeah—…haven’t learned how to levitate yet so yeah—…involves muscle movement.” something he was less than pleased about. “but right now? i think i’m part of the couch,”
Letting out a nervous giggle, the young girl can feel her hear racing, thumping out of her chest with exciement. Spontaneous encounters like this was always going to bring her so much joy. Feeling Gareth’s gaze on her, his hand brushing a strand of her hair behind her ear? Aurora could practically melt in this moment. She wondered if Gareth could tell? Was her giggling and blushing enough of a dead giveaway for him?
“Sometimes a verbal comfirmation is always nice too,” she shrugged her shoulders, feeling his hot breath on the exposed skin of her neck. “For example, I wouldn’t be opposed to you sucking on my neck a little harder. You can do better than that, huh?”
he could almost feel her quickened heart rate against his chest as he holds her closer. strong, calloused hands grasp onto her hips to pull her closer. he liked to make her giggle and it was always nice to see someone blush as much if not more than himself. it was also nice to see that he made a pretty girl feel this way. sure, there had been rumors that gareth had been caught under the bleachers before but that’s all they were. just rumors.
“oh? here i thought i was being gentle.” he can’t help but place a playful nip to her exposed flesh before placing a kiss there. “you sure you don’t care about marks?”
“Fucking hell, I think you might just be one of the most stubborn people I’ve ever met. If you’re gonna say no to pink, what color would you want? I’ve been wanting to make bracelets for everyone in Hellfire and you might aswell be the first to get one,” she adds on. One of Aurora’s love languages was gift giving, even it was something small and homeade. “As far as ‘metal shit’, I was thinking maybe some non-friendship bracelets, necklaces, earrings? Anything to attract more than the same five drunk assholes at the Hideaway. Even just elevating your look a little bit could make a world of a difference.”
he can’t help but scoff, rolling his eyes. yeah, gareth was stubborn. everyone close to him, especially hellfire club, knew that. even half of the students of hawkins high knew if they had to share a class with gareth. gareth? he could be incredibly frustrating to be around. he’ll motion towards his signature red flannel, raising his eyebrows. “really? i thought it was obvious,” red was his favorite color. he’ll snicker, rolling his eyes in a more playful way than one of annoyance. “just don’t make us look like we belong in a hair band. we ain’t twisted sister,”
Eddie nodded, “yeah, and you know I gladly give you my body to practice on, are they letting you tattoo people yet?” It was no secret how excited Eddie had been when Gareth had gotten an apprenticeship, he couldn’t think of a better carer, aside from drumming, for his friend.
gareth can’t help but grin, looking pleased with himself. “matter of fact, i had two clients this month. apparently they liked my art and my preceptor was talkin’ me up,” it’s a rarity that gareth actually talks himself up. it was usually only about his tattooing or his drumming. “so hopefully i’ll have some regular clients soon. maybe even my own chair—…”
